Established in 1984, the Virginia Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (VAGARA) serves as a vibrant link in promoting the value of archival and records management practices at both the state and local levels.
VAGARA is governed by an executive board and four at-large members who are elected for two-year terms by the association membership. The immediate past president serves as an ex-officio member of the board. Members of the executive committee are appointed to subcommittees to plan conferences and workshops, award scholarships, publish a quarterly newsletter, and promote membership in the association.
To be Virginia's premier resource for education and best practices in the management of public records.
To promote education, best practices, and professional networking in support of the professional responsible for the administration of public records.
